Man bites snake: Cobra meets its match in Nepal

A Nepali farmer exacted revenge on a cobra by biting the snake back and killing it after it had attacked him

It's one of those urban myth moments, that wouldn’t be out of place in a Quentin Tarantino movie; a man in Nepal decided to bite back after being attacked by a snake, and killed the reptile.

"I could have killed it with a stick but bit it with my teeth instead because I was angry," Mohamed Salmo Miya explained.

The 55-year-old wasted no time after the snake bit him in his rice paddy in a village about 200 km southeast of the Nepali capital of Kathmandu.

The angry man chased it, caught it and bit it until it died, the Nepali daily Annapurna Post reported.

After being treated at a village clinic his life was no longer in danger.

The snake is called a "goman" in Nepal, is better known as the Common Cobra.

A local police official said the man was doubly lucky, as he would not be charged with killing the snake because the reptile was not among the species listed as endangered in Nepal.
